Who we are

Council Rankings ("we") is run by High Peak Pro Ltd, Bartle House, 9 Oxford Court, Manchester M2 3WQ, which is the data controller for personal data collected on this site. Contact: privacy@councilrankings.com. ICO registration number: ZB364267.

What we collect

• If you only browse: nothing that identifies you. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
• If you sign in: your email address, and how you're using the site (member of the public, elected representative, council or public-sector employee, or media). You choose this yourself; we don't check it.
• If you rate a council: your star ratings, any comment you write, the council, and the first half of your postcode (for example "M34"). We don't store your full postcode.
• Security: a sign-in cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 90 days. We use Cloudflare Turnstile to stop automated abuse. Your network address is used briefly to limit repeated requests but is not stored with your account.

Why, and our lawful basis

• To let you sign in and rate councils: performance of the service you ask for.
• To understand who uses the site and our data (counts by role, never individual profiles), to prevent abuse, and to publish combined resident ratings: legitimate interests in running an accurate, independent public service.

What we publish

Average ratings for a council only once it has at least 10 ratings. Breakdowns by role only for groups of at least 5 people. Comments only after we've checked them, shown with your role and the month, never your email or postcode.

How long we keep it

Until you delete your account. Unused sign-in links expire after 20 minutes; sign-in sessions after 90 days.

Who we share it with

Cloudflare hosts the site and database and sends sign-in emails on our behalf. We don't sell or share personal data with anyone else.

Your rights

You can see everything we hold, change your role, and delete your account and ratings at any time onyour account page. You can also contact us, and you have the right to complain to theInformation Commissioner's Office.
